Hil's Review: Batman truly descends into horror as we witness the sacrificial rituals of the Mad Monk. And that's entertaining, even in the most horrific moments. Batman has always dealt with your men who wanted his tutelage, who embraced the idea of him as surrogate father. That spells trouble for Robin (and perhaps all of Gotham). The masterful fighter is also a spoiled brat who seeks daddy's love and approval by any means necessary. Batman's son has come to live with the BGat-Family, but this is not what most had expected. The problem with an ensemble epic is that the weeks that focus on storylines you care less about are going to feel like a let-down.Īlfred: Allow me to show you to your temporary quarters, young sir.Įven Jason Todd wasn't this bad. Only Lex really shines in this issue, but since we already know what becomes of Lex one year later, it's not nearly as exciting as it could be. These "new" heroes aren't that interesting.
This issue focuses almost exclusively on Luthor's fabricated hero team. It just seems like there are more valleys than peaks in 52, because 21 issues have come in less than five months. Hil's Review: Through 21 issues of any monthly series, there are bound to be a few weaker stories.
